iMacros Product User Data Policy

The iMacros product (iMacros) is an on-premise application that runs exclusively on the client machine.

I. iMacros collects the data or parts of the data which is used by the browser to render web pages. This collection process is initiated by the user by recording actions performed in the browser, including any user input entered into web forms.
II. iMacros uses the collected data to automate the browser.
III. iMacros stores the collected data locally in so-called macros, to repeat the actions at a later time. By default, macros are stored as unencrypted plain-text either as external files on the client machine file system or within the respective browser’s internal bookmarks repository. Options for encrypting recorded passwords as well as encrypting entire macro files are available and can be enabled by the user. In this case, the password used for performing the encryption/decryption may also be stored locally if the user chooses to do so. Additionally, some log files might be produced by iMacros. These are also stored locally.
IV. iMacros does not transfer or store any collected data to our servers nor to any other 3rd-party services. Data transferred as the result of replaying a macro occurs within the context of a browser session as if the user had manually performed the recorded actions. This communication occurs only between the client browser and the target web server. For the sake of clarity, your use of iMacros does not allow Progress to collect or store any of your data, except (a) as may be necessary to provide technical support to you, or (b) as indicated in Section V below. If Progress feels it needs your data to address a technical support issue, it will ask you for such information, which you shall provide at your discretion (however, Progress’ ability to successfully provide such support may depend upon using such data.)
V. iMacros communicates with Progress servers in only two situations:
  1. Upon license activation, iMacros sends the mac address of the client machine to the Progress activation server in order to retrieve a valid license file, which is then stored locally on the machine. This process can be optionally skipped, and a license file may instead be obtained via a manual offline activation process.
  2. When opening the About box, iMacros sends its version number to an iMacros version server to check whether a new version is available.
